What is JEE Advanced?
JEE Advanced is the second phase of the Joint Entrance Examination and is the sole prerequisite for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It is renowned for being one of the most challenging engineering entrance exams globally. The exam tests a student's deep conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and ability to apply multiple concepts simultaneously to solve complex, multi-step problems.

JEE Main Qualification
Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (across all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main).
Age Limit
Candidates should have been born on or after the specified date (usually October 1, 2001 for the 2026 cycle). 5 years relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
Number of Attempts
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) maximum of two times in two consecutive years.

Step 1: Eligibility Criteria
A) Indian Nationals and OCI/PIO (I)
- A1: Top 2,50,000 in JEE Main (B.E./B.Tech).
- A2: Born on/after Oct 1, 2001 (5 yrs relaxation for SC/ST/PwD).
- A3: Max 2 attempts in 2 consecutive years.
- A4: First appearance in Class XII in 2025/2026.
- A5: NOT admitted to any IIT earlier.
B) Foreign Nationals & OCI/PIO (F)
- B1: Born on/after Oct 1, 2001.
- B2: Max 2 attempts in 2 consecutive years.
- B3: First appearance in Class XII in 2025/2026.
- B4: NOT admitted to any IIT earlier.
- Not required to write JEE Main.

- Wear open footwear, avoid metals.

Post-Exam & Admissions (Steps 8-13)
Step 8 & 9: Result & AAT
- Provisional Key & Feedback: May (4th Wk).
- Result & AIR: June (1st Wk).
- AAT (for B.Arch): June (1st-2nd Wk).
Step 11: Class XII Requirement
- 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD).
- OR Top 20 percentile in board.
Step 12 & 13: Counseling (JoSAA)
- Seat allocation through JoSAA.
- Preparatory courses available for vacant SC/ST/PwD seats.
Important Documents to Carry
- Admit Card: Printout from the JEE Advanced website (on A4 size paper).
- Valid Photo ID: Original and non-expired (Aadhaar, School ID, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card).
- PwD Certificate: If claiming relaxation or need for a scribe.
- Scribe Documents: If opting for scribe services.

Moving from JEE Main to JEE Advanced?
How your preparation needs to shift.
1. Focus on Depth, not Breadth
JEE Main requires you to know a little about everything. JEE Advanced requires you to know everything about a few things. You cannot rely on memorized formulas here.
2. Multi-concept Problem Solving
A single question might require knowledge of Rotation (Physics), Thermodynamics, and Integration (Maths). Practice questions that mix chapters.
3. Master Multiple Correct Questions
These are the rank-deciders. You must verify all 4 options independently. Partial marking helps, but overconfidence leads to negative marks.
4. Mental Stamina
Sitting for two 3-hour papers on the same day is exhausting. You must practice full 6-hour mock tests leading up to the exam.
