What is NEET?

The single gateway for medical admissions in India.

NEET (UG) stands for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate). It is a uniform national-level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS, and B.Sc. Nursing) in all medical institutions governed by the National Medical Commission (NMC), National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), and National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH).

Detailed Step-by-Step Registration Process

The application process is divided into Three Simple Steps. All steps can be done together or at separate timings. The application is considered successful only after the successful payment of the fee and generation of the Confirmation Page.

Registration for Online Application Form

  • Access the Portal: Go to the official NEET (UG) website and click on the registration link.
  • Fill Basic Details: Supply the required personal details (Name, Mother's Name, Father's Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Category, etc.).
  • Create Credentials: Create a PASSWORD and choose a Security Question with its answer.
    Password Policy: Must be 8 to 13 characters long, containing at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one numeric value, and one special character (e.g., @#$%^&*-).
  • Generate Application Number: After successful submission of personal details, a system-generated Application Number will be created.
  • Login: For subsequent logins, use the system-generated Application Number and the created Password.
Important: Note down this Application Number. It will be required for all future logins and correspondence.

Complete the Application Form

  • Login: Log in using your Application Number and Password.
  • Fill Personal & Academic Details: Enter complete academic details for Class 10 and Class 12/Qualifying Examination. Candidates appearing in Class 12 in 2026 must select Qualifying Code as 01.
  • Choose Preferences:
    • Medium of Question Paper: Carefully select from 13 available languages (English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu). Note: This cannot be changed later.
    • Choice of Examination Cities: Select any three convenient cities from Appendix-V in order of priority. Choices are limited to the State of Permanent or Present Address.
  • Upload Images and Documents: Upload the following as per specifications:
    • Recent Passport size Photograph (taken after 01 January 2026, 80% face visible, white background).
    • Signature.
    • Left and Right Hand Fingers and Thumb impressions.
    • Class 10 Marksheet and Passing Certificate.
    • Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), if applicable.
    • PwBD/PwD Certificate (if applicable).
    • Citizenship Certificate (for NRI/OCI/Foreign Nationals).
    • Address Proof.
  • Capture Live Photograph: Candidates must capture a live photograph using their webcam or by scanning a QR code with a mobile device. This will be matched with the Aadhaar database (if used for identity verification).
  • Identity Verification: Provide identity details (Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, etc.). Using Aadhaar is recommended to avoid additional document submissions.

Fee Payment

  • Select Payment Mode: Choose from Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
  • Pay Fee: Pay the applicable fee based on your category:
    General
    ₹1700/-
    General-EWS/OBC-NCL
    ₹1600/-
    SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender
    ₹1000/-
    Outside India
    ₹9500/-
    Note: Processing charges and GST are applicable in addition to the examination fee.
  • Generate Confirmation Page: The Confirmation Page is generated only after successful payment. If the Confirmation Page is not generated, the transaction is cancelled, and the candidate must pay again. Mere deduction of fee from the bank account is not proof of payment.
  • Download and Print: Download, save, and print sufficient hard copies of the Confirmation Page for future reference.

Key Notes for Registration

  • ⚠️ Correction Window: A stipulated correction window period will be provided (likely in the month following the application deadline). After this window, no changes will be entertained.
  • 📱 OTP Verification: Mobile Number and Email ID must be verified through OTP. The OTP generated is valid for 10 minutes.
  • 🚫 One Application Only: Candidates must fill only one application form. Filling multiple forms will be treated as Unfair Means (UFM).
  • 🆔 Aadhaar Update: Candidates are advised to ensure their Aadhaar Card is accurate and updated (Name, DOB, Gender, Photo, Address) before applying to avoid verification issues.
