Who Can Apply?

There are 4 distinct routes to qualify for Diploma Lateral Entry.

Route 1 — 10+2

Passed 10+2 with the applicable combination of subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship.

Route 2 — ITI

Passed 10th class + 2-year ITI under NCVT/SCVT/COE in an appropriate Trade.

Route 3 — Existing Diploma

Completed a 3-year Diploma in a particular branch and wish to take admission to the second year of a different branch (subject to compatibility).

Route 4 — NSQF

NSQF Level 4 qualification (considered for various Diploma Engineering courses according to the compatibility table).

Detailed Step-by-Step Admission Process

A comprehensive guide to securing your Diploma Engineering Lateral Entry seat.

Step 1: Preparation and Eligibility

  • Read the Brochure: Read the diploma prospectus available at hstes.org.in or techeduhry.gov.in.
  • Check Eligibility (See Chapter 3.B):
    • Passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, IT, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship.
    • OR Passed a Two-year ITI course in an Engineering trade.
    • OR Passed a Three-year Diploma in any Engineering/Non-Engineering discipline.
  • Note: Specific subject combination eligibility is detailed in the prospectus.

Step 2: Online Registration for Admission

  • Timeline: Registration opens on 22.04.2026 and closes on 06.06.2026.
  • Website: Visit techadmissionshry.gov.in.
  • Sign Up: Provide your PPP ID (Haryana residents) or Aadhaar number. Personal details will be auto-fetched from the PPP database.
  • Fill Application Form: Complete required fields. Clearly opt for "Diploma Engg. Lateral Entry".
  • Upload Documents: Upload required documents, recent photograph (max 30KB) and signature (max 20KB).
  • Pay Registration Fee (Non-refundable):
    • General Category: ₹1000/-
    • All Reserved Categories (SC/SCD/BC/PH/FF/ESM/EWS/Girls): ₹700/-
    Payment can be made online via Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

Step 3: Document Verification at Designated Center

This is a critical step. After online registration, candidates must get their application forms verified by a Designated Center.

  • Process: Select a Designated Center (Govt. or Govt. Aided Polytechnic) during registration.
  • The Designated Center verifies the uploaded documents and marks of the qualifying examination.
  • The Inter-se-Merit rank is prepared only for verified and confirmed application forms.
  • Timeline: Verification is open from 22.04.2026 to 08.06.2026.

Step 4: Check Inter-se-Merit Rank

The merit/rank based on the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination will be displayed on the admission portal on 15.06.2026.

Step 5: Participate in Online Counseling

Admission is based on the inter-se-merit rank. Two rounds of centralized counseling will be conducted online off-campus.

1st Counseling

  • Choice Filling: 16-18 Jun 2026
  • Seat Allotment: 19 Jun 2026
  • Physical Reporting: 22-24 Jun 2026

2nd Counseling

  • Choice Filling: 26-30 Jun 2026
  • Seat Allotment: 01 Jul 2026
  • Physical Reporting: 02-03 Jul 2026
  • Login: Use your Unique Application Number and Password.
  • Locking Choices: Mandatory to lock choices; otherwise, last filled choices are final.
  • Upgradation: If upgraded in 2nd counseling, the previous seat is automatically cancelled.

Step 6: Document Verification

  • Download provisional seat allotment letter.
  • Pay semester fees.
  • Submit original documents for verification. (Institute will not retain original certificates).

Step 7: Final Admission

After successful verification and fee payment, the institute will issue a system-generated Provisional Admission Slip. Your admission is confirmed!

PPP ID Mandatory

For Haryana residents, PPP ID is mandatory. Name, DOB, Gender, Category, and Income are fetched automatically and cannot be edited during registration.

Special Reservation Categories

TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) +
Up to 5% of sanctioned intake per course may be available as supernumerary TFW seats. Parental annual income must be ≤ ₹8 lakh, subject to applicable AICTE/State guidelines.
EWS (Economically Weaker Section) +
Up to 10% of sanctioned intake per course is available for EWS, subject to stated government/AICTE conditions. Requires an EWS Income & Asset Certificate.
HARIHAR Policy +
Special admission policy for eligible abandoned/surrendered children, including conditions relating to age, Child Care Institutions, and District Approval Committee.
KM (Kashmiri Migrants) +
Applicable where specified under the prospectus framework.

AICTE Scholarships

Financial assistance available for eligible students.

Pragati

Scholarship specifically designed for eligible girl students pursuing technical education.

Saksham

For eligible specially-abled students. Requires a minimum 40% disability criterion.

Swanath

For orphans, students whose parent(s) died due to COVID-19, or wards of Armed/Paramilitary Forces martyred in action. (₹50,000 per year).

Do I need to take an entrance exam for Diploma Lateral Entry? +
No, there is no entrance exam. Admission is based on the merit of your qualifying examination (e.g. 10+2 marks or ITI marks).
